Over the years, Sure Death went through many changes of cast, characters and focus. It started out focusing on the adventures of a acupuncturist assassin named Baian. As you might expect, Baian generally only took commissions that involved the execution of evildoers.

By the early '80s, Baian has been replaced by Mondo, who masquerades as a dim-witted and henpecked cop by day, and leads a band of well-intentioned killers by night. The series has also become softer in tone and more comedic, very different from the style of Lone Wolf & Cub. Each of the assassins in Mondo's group has a very unusual technique -- for example, one is a florist who stabs people with sharpened flower stems!
