August 17th, 2007: Death has never been so pretty!
The #1 complaint we've gotten about Shogun Assassin (the dubbed version of Lone Wolf & Cub) is that there's only two movies! Well, we listened to you, and have commissioned dubs of the final 3 LW&C films, to be released as Shogun Assassin 3, 4 and 5.
In Shogun Assassin III - Slashing Blades of Carnage, the Lone Wolf must track down a deadly (and usually naked, or at least, clothed only in full-body tattoos!) female assassin, while dealing with hordes of Yagyu assassins, and all the while honing his parenting skills!
If you've been getting that “Gee, I need some more blood and carnage” feeling, then check out Shogun Assassin III - Slashing Blades of Carnage! Now available!
August 9th, 2007: FREE Yawara Preview discs available on the website!
We're happy to announce that the FREE Yawara Preview discs that lucky Comic Con attendees found out about are now available! These discs contain not just excerpts, not just 1 episode, not even two, but the first 4 episodes of the series! And because so many people at Comic Con were begging, nay, grovelling for extra copies, we've decided you can order up to 3 discs at a time (one for you, two more for family and friends).
Basically, the deal is this: if you order anything from us, you can add the preview disc(s) to your order at no additional charge; if all you want is the preview disc(s), there's a $5.00 S&H charge (we're crazy, but not insane).
For more information, an introduction to this wonderful series, and the all-important order button, check out our Yawara Preview Page!
July 31st, 2007: Back from vacation, and into the Graveyard of Yawara!
We're back from our “vacation” in San Diego, and waiting for us at the office were the first copies of
Takashi Miike's Graveyard of Honor. Check it out, it's a must for all Miike fans, though we do recommend you not emulate Rikuo's seduction technique...
Those of you who dropped by our booth at Comic Con know that we had a little surprise - free DVDs containing the first four episodes of Yawara! We've had them made up to whet your appetite for our release of the first 40 episodes of the series, which, if you stop interrupting us to ask "Is it done yet?" might get finished in time for XMAS! We also thought that you might like to see how we're handling some of the subtitling choices (like Judo terminology) and get your feedback.
In a few days we will be putting up a page on the website that will let everyone get free Yawara! discs ($5 S&H if ordered alone, free if ordered with something else). You'll even be able to order extras for friends, if you ask nicely and Natsumi is in a good mood that day...
July 20th, 2007: AnimEigo goes on vacation!
The AnimEigo offices will be closed from July 20th through August 1st as we head off on our Annual Pilgrimage to San Diego for Comic Con. As a punish... er, reward for their hard work over the last year, the entire staff is getting an all-expenses-paid vacation in return for working a mere 12 hours a day in our booth!
Any website orders received after July 19th will not be processed until we return.
Fans of our Anime may be very interesting in a certain little something they might be able to pick up at our booth... but in order to find out what it is, you'll have to drop by...
June 29th, 2007: 47 Reasons to indulge your Samurai habit

Kabuki idol Somegoro Ichikawa and the beautiful Rie Miyazawa headline a swashbuckling tale of love, betrayal, and the demonic destruction of Edo in Ashura. At only $21.23, we expect our limited supply of advance copies (and thus, the office demon infestation) will soon be exhausted.

March 1st, 2007: AnimEigo on MySpace
In a pathetic attempt to appear cooler than we really are, and attract new and presumably hipper fans, AnimEigo now has a MySpace page.
Of course, these alleged new customers will be way too hip to check out this, our normal homepage, so they'll never find out about it.
Rumors that this is just an attempt by the staff to get more MySpace friends are probably entirely justified!
February 15th, 2007: Arcadia of My Youth to go out of print
One of our favorite titles, Arcadia of My Youth, will be going out of print this summer. Get your copy now for a mere $7.95, while supplies last.

5 of his best Samurai films!
June 14th, 2006: Kimagure Orange Road going out of print
We are saddened to announce that our license to Kimagure Orange Road will soon expire, and
so the title will be going out of print. The TV series license expires at the end of July, and the Movie/OVA
license expires in the middle of August. If you want to get this title, you should order
it as soon as possible using the “Summer of Savings” - we expect that our
stock of many of the DVDs will be exhausted before the title goes out of print.
May 26th, 2006: Let the bloodletting begin!
The most legendary (and most bootlegged) samurai film of all time is now available
in a new, completely reconstructed, widescreen edition so good, you can tell what
blood type the Ninjas have!
That's right... Shogun Assassin!
(Now maybe we'll stop getting death threats from B.B.'s mom!)
Check out what we did or
watch the trailer (Quicktime 7 required).
We have a few advance copies we're making available now; it'll be available everywhere July 11th!
PS: If you bought one of the crappy bootleg versions (for shame! for shame!),
you can Apply for Amnesty and get a
legit copy for a mere $10. But do it quickly, our capacity for mercy is limited!
January 26th, 2006: Announcing 6 new licenses!
Shogun Assassin: The most famous samurai
film in North America and probably most bootlegged one! You've
begged us to do it for years, and we're giving it the full AnimEigo
treatment - we're restoring it using our brilliant transfers of
the original component films (Lone Wolf & Cub 1&2). We're literally
going to replace every frame in Shogun Assassin with the exact same
frames from the original films!
That sound you hear is the sound of everyone who bought the
crappy bootleg editions weeping, with an overlay of gnashing of teeth
from the scummy bootleggers!
Japan's Longest Day aka The Emperor and The General (1967):
The best-known Japanese World War II film, it is set on August 15th,
1945, the day the Emperor announced Japan's surrender.
Directed by Kihachi Okamoto (Samurai Assassin) and starring
the legendary Toshiro Mifune, who plays the General, and does
something you never see Mifune doing -- he commits seppuku!
A New Love in Tokyo (1994): A unique, award-winning
art film that's funny, edgy, and sexy, it's the
story of a free-spirited dominatrix, who is at the same
time a serious amateur actress trying to build real
relationships with both her acting and sex-business
acquaintances. When you need a big audience for your new play,
it's always good to have a Yakuza boss as your whipping boy!
The Trail of Blood (1972), The Fearless Avenger (1973), and
Slaughter in the Snow (1973):
3 action-packed, excessively bloody samurai Yakuza films (in other words,
the kind you tell us you like the best!), the famed
"Mikogami" series is the
story of a man who tried to leave the Yakuza world, only to
have his family slaughtered -- which means
there's 3 films worth of villains to hunt down and dispatch!
More announcements in the near future!

October 21, 2005: FREE SHIPPING!
We are pleased to announce that we are now offering free shipping anywhere in the United States via
USPS Media Mail, with no minimum quantities or dollar amounts, on all orders placed through our
shopping cart. For orders placed over the phone, there is a modest "minimum sweet-talking"
requirement in order to get free shipping.
Media Mail is occasionally slightly slower than regular USPS service, but delivery
is guaranteed in 2-9 days depending on how far away from us you foolishly decided to live (the
fact is, there are only 3 true anime fans, and they've been camped out across the street
for years. We've always given them free shipping because, well, we're afraid of them)
Orders of $50 or more still qualify for free UPS Ground or USPS priority mail as always.
October 21, 2005: UY Box Set 9 is shipping freely!
Those of you lucky enough to preorder it should be getting it in a few days! Oh, what's that you
say? You forgot to preorder? No problem, we have a few extras left over, which you can
order here.
October 21, 2005: A new Samurai Cinema title! (alas, not free at all!)
From Ryunosuke Akutagawa, author of “Rashomon”, and Shiro Toyoda, director
of “Yukiguni” and “Illusion of Blood” comes a magnificent and horrifying tale
of love and madness -- “Portrait of Hell”,
starring one of Japan's greatest actors, Tatsuya Nakadai (“Ran”).
A talented artist is forced by his despotic lord to paint a mural depicting Heaven,
but the artist can only paint what he knows...
More details soon!
October 14, 2005: Thanksgiving comes early!
Single helpings of Urusei Yatsura, Volumes 36-40,
are now available for your eating... er, I mean
viewing... pleasure. And unlike regular Thanksgiving feasts, when watching UY, you'll never
run into a turkey!
October 7th, 2005: Special Janice's Birthday Announcement
As you all know, Janice is a steely-eyed enforcer (velvet fist in iron glove) whose hobbies include
knitting, quilting, and terrorizing production assistants. So in honor of her birthday we're
releasing box sets of her favorite "relax for bedtime" movies.
500 Gold pieces will buy Ogami Itto's services, but it costs a lot less to watch
him execute those services in all six Lone Wolf & Cub movies. Janice thinks the Lone Wolf is a bit soft,
but we think he deserves a box set of his very own.
Find out what the definition of true revenge is in two classic films starring
the beautiful Kaji Meiko. According to Janice, she's young, but has potential. Find out
what she's talking about by picking up the Lady Snowblood Box Set.
September 19, 2005: The Laws of Anime
Sometimes we just run into something so amusing that we can't resist sharing. So it
is with the Laws of Anime. However, we do think that
the Law of Americanthropomorphism needs an "except AnimEigo, of course"
codicil...
September 13, 2005: Important Pre-Ophelian Pummeling Announcement!
Yes, we're about to get hit by a minor hurricane, but neither wind, nor storm, nor
flakey internet connection will stay us from making this announcement.
Will Lum and Ataru finally kiss? Will Megane find true love? Will that cute little fox
find his way back to Tomobiki? Does anyone actually like the cute little fox (we sure
don't!)
To find the answers to the above questions, fire up your credit cards and
pre-order the next to last boxset (#9) of Urusei Yatsura!
Supplies are limited, so don't miss your chance!
Now excuse us while we head to the nearest nunnery... I mean, shelter...
September 12, 2005: New shipment of blood, sex and violence arrives at AnimEigo!
What more can you ask for?! Legendary Japanese film star Ishihara Yujiro, ninjas, dead ninjas,
decapitated ninjas, aortically-exploding ninjas, sexy female ninjas, an even sexier fake female
ninja, gangs of attacking naked female ninjas, and what we think can only be described as
"stunt breasts" -- all in one film! The second film in the Shadow Hunters saga -
Echo of Destiny is now available!
August 31, 2005: UY Box Set 10 Clarification
After the 50th email, we got the hint that this is a question that needs answering.
Yes, we will be selling UY TV Volume 50 as a single, just like Volumes 46-49.
Vol. 49 will contain 3 episodes, and Vol. 50 will contain 2. Both discs will
be packed with as many extras, as will fit, including, but not limited to:
- Line Art Gallery
- Color Picture Gallery (including the packaging art)
- Trailers -- UY OVAs and Movies
- Character Retrospective -- list or slideshow of all characters (minor and major) with bios and fun facts.
- Cast and Crew Bios (directors, voice actors, etc)
- Gallery of Dappya Space People -- slideshow of where the alien fish guys have shown up.
- Karaoke -- UY songs with english and romanji subs
- Clean Opening and Ending Songs
- Robert Woodhead interview (boring, but he's the boss...)
- Easter egg(s) -- or maybe we'll say they are there, but not actually add them, just to drive people nuts.
August 24, 2005: News from Tomobiki!
Urusei Yatsura TV Volumes 29-35, OVA 5 and OVA 6
are now available for your single DVD viewing pleasure.
Authoring has wrapped on TV Boxset#9 and the discs are headed into replication. Expect pre-orders
to open in October.
Pre-production is nearing completion on the final episodes and the bonus disk (Boxset#10) and we
will move the project into authoring next month.
August 17, 2005: Samurai Summer Slices On!
We continue our proud tradition of releasing the best samurai films -- for just about
every way you can define “best” -- with two new DVD releases.
First, Toshiro Mifune returns with a big sword and an even bigger red wig in the
outrageously comedic classic -- Red Lion.
And if your definition of best involves lots of ninjas dressed in black, women
dressed in not much, and enough blood to fill an olympic swimming pool, you won't want to
miss a popcorn samurai film epic -- Shadow Hunters.
August 1, 2005: August AnimEigo Addiction Assault
As current fans of Kimagure Orange Road and Urusei Yatsura know, watching these classic series
is like eating potato chips; you can't stop at just one. So in order to addic... er, “introduce”
them to more fans, we're making the first DVD of each series available for a mere $10, and the next
few for a measley $15. Not only that, they're low-fat and low-carb, which is something you can't
say about potato chips!
July 27, 2005: Demon Spies Stage Sneak Attack
Tomorrow is the birthday of our beloved Goddess of the East, and in celebration of this, we've
made the action-packed ninja adventure Demon Spies available in advance of
the official release date. Exactly what an over-sexed, overly-bloody samurai film has to do
with her birthday remains a mystery...
More details here!
July 11, 2005: The Art of T-Shirt
Since we're almost out of our Anniversary T-Shirts, it's time for a new one, based this
time on our Samurai films. Featuring a cool quotation from the Japanese translation of
Sun Tzu's “Art of War” and rumored to be an excellent conversation-starter
with cute members of the opposite sex, it's available for $9.98 -- or free if you order
$100 or more on the website. And unlike other companies that don't tell you want it says,
leaving you with the nagging suspicion that it reads “This moron is illiterate”,
we actually give you an explanation that you can provide to the aforementioned cute members
of the opposite sex. Wear at your own risk!
More details here!
June 15, 2005: A Banner Day for Samurai Fans
The highly anticipated Samurai Banners DVD is scheduled to hit
the shelves on July 12th but you don't have to wait until then!
We got our shipment early and have decided to let our faithful
web visitors get it early.. This is your chance to own a Mifune Toshiro classic
before any of your friends (or even better, before any of your enemies!)
More details here!
June 4, 2005: Revenge of the Scott Production Update
Our production manager, Scott Carlson, the dreaded Dark Lord of the Schedule, has conveyed to us the
following information and a request to come up with a witty title for this production update.
Sorry, a lame Star Wars reference was the best we could do.
Anime: Urusei Yatsura TV volumes 26-28 and OVAs 1-4 are now available for individual purchase, as are the
four Bubblegum Crisis singles. If you haven't taken advantage of the
Kimagure Orange Road disc swap, you better hurry as it will end
June 30th. (Read yesterday's news post for details.)
Authoring for UY TV set 9 will begin this month. Barring any hiccups, hassles, variations, problems, troubles, illness, plagues or attacks
by giant monsters, this set will open up for preorders in October with the final set's preorder following in November. Yes that's right, we're going
to TRY and have the Urusei Yatsura Television Series completed and delivered by the end of the year!
Samurai Cinema: Samurai Banners is in replication and on schedule for release on July 12.
One of our new titles, Demon Spies, has finished authoring and is headed to the replicator.
This is ahead of schedule, so watch the site because we may offer the DVD prior
to its retail release on August 9th. The Red Lion DVD is progressing nicely - the film transfer
work has concluded and the restoration process is about to begin. Expect this disc in September as previously announced.
Our remaining Samurai films, Shadow Hunters and Echo of Destiny, are moving along and are still on target for their October release.
June 2, 2005: Kimagure Orange Road Box Set DVD Trade In to Phase Out
Back in 2002 we reauthored the original Kimagure Orange Road Television DVDs in order
to prevent some fans (who didn't like a layout decision we made) from burning us at the
stake (this is one of the downsides of having very loyal customers).
We made the revised versions to anyone who wanted to swap out their originals. Some
did so, while others held on to their beloved original versions. Well guys, you've
had enough time to make up your decision, and we need extra ammo for the rapid-fire DVD
Death Frisbee Miniguns we use to defend the office against our competitors (yeah, we
kiss and make nice at conventions, but day-to-day, it's HMSS vs. Spectre, CONTROL
vs. KAOS, UNCLE vs. THRUSH, real, "No Mr. Woodhead, we expect you to die" stuff.)
So we're closing off the exchange program as of June 30, 2005. If you still want
to swap your DVDs before then,
the details can be found here.
June 1, 2005: Kimagure Orange Road Box Set Sold Out
We won't repeat the Monty Python Dead Parrot Parody, but we thought you ought
to know. Tom of Walnut, CA snagged the last one.
Individual DVDs are still available.
May 4, 2005: How many times do we have to say it?
UY Box Sets 5 and 6 are now officially out of print! We have no more. So please
don't email us begging for a set, they're all gone, and as it is a limited edition,
it's not likely we'll ever make any more of the boxes. Or, to put it another way:
It's not backordered! It's sold out! This box set is no more! It has ceased
to be for sale! It's UPC code has been retired! It's unavailable! Bereft
of stock, we sell it no more! THIS IS AN EX-BOX SET!
Allen's threat to make a list of all the people who keep on asking for out
of print box sets and read it at conventions is officially back in force.
April 28, 2005: Urusei Yatsura Script Editing Completed!
Fulfilling a promise made long, long ago that he'd get it done before he died,
Animeigo CEO Robert Woodhead today completed the script editing of the final episode
of Urusei Yatsura.
He then stepped out of his house, where he was immediately hit in the face
by a baseball. While staggering to his car to drive to the ER, he was subsequently
struck by a bolt of lightning. An ambulance was summoned, and during the trip
to the local hospital, a small meteorite penetrated the vehicle, bounced around,
and added 2nd-degree burns in a very sensitive area to his list of injuries.
Mr. Woodhead is currently listed as being in “Stable but Paranoid”
condition in the intensive care unit of Our Lady of Perpetual Coincidence.
The baseball and meteor will be auctioned on eBay in order to help pay for his
medical expenses.
April 20, 2005: Samurai Production Update
We've been actively working on several Samurai DVDs.
“Samurai Banners” is planned for a July 12th release.
The AnimEigo Kuroko (look it up) have been working diligently on the project to meet this date.
Preproduction is wrapping up, menu design is finished and bonus material has been produced.
Yet “Samurai Banners” is not the only active Samurai project.
“Demon Spies” is scheduled to be released in August. The film transfer and restoration
have just concluded. Bonus material and other DVD elements are being finalized so that
authoring can begin next week.
“Red Lion” will follow “Demon Spies” in September,
and then in October, both “Shadow Hunters” and
“Shadow Hunters II: Echo Of Destiny” will hit the stores! They'll
be easy to find; just look for the big puddle of blood in the foreign films
section.
March 10, 2005: Lady Snowblood wins a Bitsy
The editors of Digital Bits have awarded Lady Snowblood
an Editor's
Top-10 "Bitsy"! Now cough up a really nice trophy, guys, or we'll send Kaji Meiko over
to encourage you...
March 10, 2005: Urusei Yatsura OVA Box Set available for regular order
All our preorder customers have gotten their box sets (lovingly cuddled, blessed, packaged and
shipped by the nubile AnimEigo Shrine Maidens), so we're making them
available for regular order on the website.
February 23, 2005: New Samurai Cinema Licenses
AnimEigo is proud to announce that we have just licensed three new Samurai Cinema titles! Just like our previous Lone Wolf and Cub and Zatoichi DVDs, they'll be digitally transferred from new prints and released in anamorphic wide-screen editions!
Coming later this year (stay tuned for release dates!):
Demon Spies - from the bloody pen of Kazuo Koike, creator of Lone Wolf and Cub and Lady Snowblood.
Shadow Hunters - Samurai and Ninja action at its bloody best!
Echo of Destiny - Shadow Hunters II
In addition, AnimEigo is re-releasing two of our classic Samurai titles,
Samurai Banners and Red Lion, on DVD.
Both of these remarkable films star Toshiro Mifune, Japan's greatest samurai actor, an icon of the genre.
February 23, 2005: Zatoichi Slashes Prices!
The famous blind swordsman dropped by our offices, cleaned us out in a friendly game of dice,
and then suggested that we reduce prices on our DVDs. Having seen enough of his movies to know
what happens to people who don't take his suggestions very seriously, we've just done that.
From now on, Zatoichi DVDs are only $19.98 (even less if you buy them here!), and we've also
collected them into an insanely economical box set!
February 14, 2005: Roses are red, violets are blue, here's our production status, for you to view
The Urusei Yatsura projects continue to move forward. The OVA collector's box is finished and will
ship to its pre-orders on March 4th. For those of you anxiously awaiting the next television box
set, your wait is almost over. TV Set #8 has finished DVD authoring and has been sent to the
replicator. The outer slipcases are currently being manufactured, so the whole project is nearing
completion. We expect to open up the preorders for set 8 around Mid-March. TV Set 9 is currently
in pre-production, and is scheduled to begin authoring in early May. So get ready for summertime
hi-jinx with Lum and company!
February 1, 2005: UY OVA DVD reviews are up
The busy beavers at AnimeOnDVD have posted reviews of all the upcoming UY OVA DVDs. We'll open
the preorder soon, but in the meantime you can read all about them
here,
here,
here,
here,
here and
here.
February 19, 2005: Okamoto Kihachi Passes Away
Acclaimed director Okamoto Kihachi, one of the most influential filmmakers in Japanese history,
passed away on Saturday, February 19th, 2005. Born in Tokyo in 1923, Okamoto survived WWII,
after being drafted in 1943. After graduating from Meiji University and beginning his
film career at Toho Co., he made his directorial debut in 1958 with “All About Marriage”.
Okamoto was best known for his war movies, particularly “Japan's Longest Day”, which
depicted the end of the Pacific War in a documentary-like fashion. Other important
works by Okamoto include “Sword of Doom” and “The Human Bullet.” He directed his
last film, “Vengeance for Sale,” in 2001.
Our Samurai Cinema line includes three of Okamoto's most acclaimed films;
“Zatoichi Meets Yojimbo,” “Red Lion,” and “Samurai Assassin.”
Everyone at AnimEigo mourns the passing of a master filmmaker.

January 3, 2005: Shipping Hiatus
Due to our annual end of the year inventory count and that our business office must
close out 2004, all orders (both web and phone) will not be processed until the week
of January 10. We apologize for any issues this may cause, but it is unavoidable.
December 16, 2004: Macross Sale
As a result of our office being closed for the holidays beginning Dec. 24th through Jan. 2nd, we will be unable to fill any Macross orders after Dec 23rd. The ordering buttons will be
taken off so that web orders cannot be made on the 21st of December. This is to give us a chance to make sure all orders go out before the holidays and for us to get a final inventory
before the year-end. Once the ordering buttons are taken off the website, the only orders we will accept are phone orders up to 1PM Eastern Standard time on the 23rd. This will ensure
that we will get all orders out in time. Please call during our office hours which are 8AM-5PM Eastern Standard time. If you do call after office hours, please leave a clear and detailed
message (name, please!) so that we can help you. If we cannot figure out what you are saying, we cannot and will not ship your order, thus it is highly recommended that you call during
office hours.
We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday, and we look forward to 2005!

that we have decided to include this feature on all upcoming anime discs as well! That's right, the content of all our new DVDs,
both anime and Samurai, will now contain all the cultural information normally found on the printed liner note inserts.
If you'd like a printed version of this information, it will be available on-line right here at www.animeigo.com in a very easily
downloadable PDF file. (And this cultural information will still be available, as always, on our website.) All future pressings of
previously released DVDs will no longer contain a printed liner note insert. This new trend will allow all of our traditional

April 28, 2003 - FAQ: How come [title], which you just released, isn't available at [favorite store]?
Robert's been getting a lot of email asking this question, so in the faint
hope that some of you actually read the homepage...
To understand why this is so, you have to understand how the video industry
works. A product gets released like this:
- Video company (us) announces new title, sets a STREET DATE (date of first sale,
or date the stores can put it out for sale) about 2 months in the future.
- This gives time for stores/online sites to (a) decide to order it, (b)
place the order, and (c) add to their inventory systems, about a month before
the street date.
- Then we have a month to (a) gather all the orders, (b) replicate enough
discs, and (c) ship them out in time for the stores to get them by the street date.
- "Missing" a street date, not having the product to the stores in time, is
a major sin in the industry, and we've been nailed by last minute problems so
many times that we now have a policy of "don't announce a street date until we
have finished, tested product in the warehouse!"
- So when the product does come in, we announce a street date, and as a bonus
for fans who can't wait, make the title available on our website.
- So there's often a 2 month delay between the time something pops up on our
website, and the time it might appear on, say, amazon.com. And also, keep in mind
that stores like Musicland or Best Buy, with limited shelf space, may not stock
a particular title at all, although they can special order them.
- Finally, we'd like to mention that since we put this policy in place, all
our titles have arrived early! !^#^@&*@!!
April 24, 2003 - Scott Reveals the Secret of DVD Life
Our Potentate of Production, Manager of Minions, and
Viceroy of Video, Scott the First, explains how it is all
done in this DVD Vision Japan Interview.
Jan 30, 2003 - Be careful when buying on online auction sites
For the last several months, Robert has been waging war against bootleggers
using online auction sites like eBay to sell asian bootlegs and VCDs of our titles,
but a recent incident hit a new low. A fan emailed us about problems with his discs;
it turned out his recent auction purchase of Macross were DVD-Rs with color-photocopied
cover inserts!
We don't want any more of you to get screwed like this. Please be aware that
there are, to our knowlege, no legal VCD versions of any of our titles,
nor are there any legal chinese-language DVDs. We checked with our licensors
in Japan, they haven't licensed any such versions.
So if you see an auction for a VCD of one of our titles, or the description mentions
chinese subtitles, be aware that the chances are 99.99999% that it's a bootleg. Same goes if
it claims to be a region-free disc; almost all US anime releases are region-coded. Another
giveaway is if the seller says he is a "US SELLER" (as opposed to being located in Asia);
in almost all cases, this means the goods are bootleg.
Finally, if you decide to sell any of your animeigo titles online, please be sure to
mention that it is the original licensed AnimEigo release. They sell for a lot more, of course!
December 20th, 2002 - How to use our discount coupons
If you are the lucky holder of one of our discount coupons
(like the ones we included with the replacement KOR discs) you may
be wondering how to use it.
Basically, you've got two options; either use it on a regular
website order, or use it on a future preorder.
Either way, what you do is write your name and email address
on the coupon, along with "REGULAR" or "PREORDER", and send it back
in to us.
If you chose "PREORDER" we'll update your preorder database
record with a credit; if you chose "REGULAR", then just mention that
you have an outstanding coupon in the comments field of the order and
we'll find your coupon in the shoebox we use to keep them in, and
apply it. If you're paying via PayPal, Check or Money Order, just
send the amount that's left after using up the coupon (actually, if
paying by Check or Money Order, you can just include the coupon with
payment). If you're paying by credit card, we'll deduct the value
of the coupon before charging the card.
Robert promises he'll do a much more high-tech coupon system
next time around!
November 22nd, 2002 - Remastered KOR Discs Available
The remastered KOR discs
(containing complete opening and ending credits) are in!
If you'd like to exchange your current discs for the
remastered discs, then please do the following:
1) Make a small shipping label with your name and address on it (it doesn't have to be
a sticky label, just something we can attach to the package we send back to you).
2) MAIL your 12 discs, along with the label, to:
KOR DISC SWAP
c/o AnimEigo
PO BOX 989,
Wilmington NC 28402-0989
Do NOT, repeat, NOT, include the amaray cases, the box, the liner
notes, etc. Just the label and the actual DVD discs.
HINT: You can send this package using the MEDIA MAIL rate,
it should cost you less than $2.00.
3) You'll get back a package containing 12 new discs (individually wrapped),
as well as a coupon for a $10 discount on your next website or preorder purchase;
it's our way of compensating you for your time and the postage.
NOTE: If you are considering buying one of the few remaining
KOR Box Sets, and want the new discs, then simply wait until after we announce the
replacement discs are shipping. We will ship any sets bought after that date with
the new discs.
August 14, 2002 - DVD Standards slightly revised
Based on customer input, we have slightly revised our DVD Standards
document. Legal and Logo screens will be skippable unless the licensor requests otherwise, and menus will not autoplay
after 1 minute.
